Thrive Life variety of open food cans

Not only for long-term food storage, but also for everyday life

“Melanie, will you just tell me what your favorites/must-haves are from Thrive Life for your food storage?”

You’ve been asking me on Instagram for a long time if I could give you a break down of my Thrive Life freeze-dried favorites. Well, here you go!
The following 12 products are always at the top of my list and I’m telling you why I love them so much.

And maybe, just maybe, I threw in a bonus product at the end that I am a little bit obsessed with.

Okay, no more waiting. Here are my 12 favorites from thrive life (in no particular order).

1

MILK - The.Best.Milk.

Basically, all other food storage milk is disgusting and Thrive Life is the only one worth storing. The end.

Seriously, this is one of the items that sets Thrive apart from other food storage companies. Their milk is AMAZING. Like, you can’t tell a difference. It’s 100% real milk. Even my teenagers can’t tell the difference (as long as they don’t see where it comes from! HA!)

I literally poured a glass for my teenage son and he drank the whole thing, no questions asked. I have never in my life heard of a powdered milk that tastes so good you can’t tell the difference between it and normal fresh milk.

I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS MILK ENOUGH! It is the only milk I would ever consider spending money on to store long-term. With a 25-year shelf life and free shipping over $99 if you choose the monthly delivery service option, it is a great investment.

2

Cheddar Cheese - This is the real deal

Can you imagine life without cheese?

Especially life where you are already limited on certain foods, so you’re having to improvise a little (or a lot)?
Cheese just makes everything go down a little bit easier, amiright?

This is 100% cheddar cheese. It’s a weird phenomenon eating dry, somewhat crunchy cheese from a can, but it’s crazy how the taste is 100% there, even before reconstituting it.

After reconstituting it, you have totally normal, functional cheese. It even melts like regular cheese!

3

Sour Cream Powder - So convenient

I always have a can of this in my pantry for recipes that call for sour cream. It’s so convenient to throw in a meal when I’m out of fresh sour cream (or when I open a container only to find that it is…shall we say…questionable)!

It is SO great to be able to just scoop out how much I need and add it to the recipe!

So, if you ask me if I think you should get this one – YES!

4

Scrambled Egg Mix - MORE THAN BREAKFAST

I love freeze dried scrambled egg mix, not only for making scrambled eggs for breakfast (can you imagine not being able to find/buy eggs?!), but for BAKING!

We always have a can of these open in our pantry to throw into our cookie dough.

I actually prefer freeze dried over fresh for a few reasons:

  • No shells
  • No salmonella risk
  • Incredibly convenient

5

Pulled Pork - Yummmmmmmm.

I know. It’s weird.  Freeze dried meat.  I get it.  But seriously, once you get over how weird it is, you realize how FREAKING RAD it is!  I mean, to have meat?  Real meat?  Sitting on your shelf?  For 25 YEARS?!

Unrefrigerated, un-frozen, un-anythinged.  Just there.

It’s mind-blowing.  This world we live in is pretty insane.

6

Sausage Crumbles - So versatile

Freeze dried Sausage Crumbles are one of my favorite meats to store; they taste amazing when reconstituted (if you don’t know, I’m a chicken snob and don’t like reconstituted chicken, so I am excited to have found some freeze dried meats that I like).

These sausage crumbles can be used in a variety of recipes (including scrambled eggs, which are my #4), but are also great to eat on their own.

7

Fuji Apple Slices - Great for Snacking

These are delicious and are a great, healthy snack – not only for emergency situations.  These Fuji Apple Slices are a great way to incorporate “food storage” into your everyday life.

How amazing is it that you can literally store FRESH FRUIT for 25 years?! Pretty awesome, right?

8

Pineapple - Tastes like candy

Want to store a sweet treat that requires zero prep and has a 25-year shelf life?

Thrive’s freeze dried pineapple is about as sweet and fresh as snacks come. This is soooooooo good!!

Believe me when I say you (and your kids) will be popping these like candy!

But unlike any candy I’ve ever seen, this has exactly one ingredient: pineapple.

9

Strawberry Slices - Slices of heaven

If you love strawberries, you’ll love these.

They are bursting with flavor…a fan favorite, for sure!

What more is there to say?!

10

Chopped Onions - Game CHanger

Do you cry while cooking dinner? Stop it!

If I could recommend one thing, it would be the freeze dried onions. This is hands-down my favorite thing from Thrive Life that I use on a daily basis. I can’t tell you the last time I bought a fresh onion at the grocery store. Why would I, when I can scoop them right out of a can and throw them into the pan, without having to peel, chop, and cry?!

This is the most convenient thing on the planet, I swear!

11

Corn - The Perfect Snack

ONE OF MY FAVORITES! I know. You’re probably thinking, how can corn be that good? Well, it is.

It has the perfect amount of crispness and sweetness and all the things.

Add my favorite Sweet Corn ever here.

Check out this post for more information on shelf life, cost and serving information for Thrive Life Sweet Corn.

12

Tomato Powder - Space Saver

One ingredient – Tomatoes!

By just adding water, you can literally make:

  • tomato sauce
  • tomato paste
  • tomato juice

This comes in real handy if you store pasta but don’t store the sauce to go with it. So many cooking options open up with your food storage, as long as you are storing Tomato Powder.

My family cannot tell a difference when I use canned tomato sauce vs tomato powder. And the price is pretty comparable to grocery store prices.

Another reason I love using this in my normal everyday cooking is that it takes up way less space than cans of tomato sauce and tomato paste.

BONUS: Non-food item
Can Rotators

If the cans in your short-term food storage are getting a little out of control, and you find yourself dreading putting your groceries away because rotating them is such a pain,  I highly recommend considering one of the larger freestanding systems. (If you don’t have the room for that, they have Cansolidators that are designed to fit in standard pantries, with different sizes available)

I have the Variety Can System and it is a DREAM.

The Variety system accommodates a few different sizes, so that is my favorite one, but be sure to check them all out to make the best decision for your situation!

Click if you’re ready to purchase your very own Can Rotator System.

Check out this post for sizing and pricing of Thrive Life’s can rotator systems.
